Hair Fall - Thing Of The Past

By: Anju Gupta, Feme Fashions Bureau, Mumbai | 23 Jun 2012

As the weather changes the first thing that you notice is the falling of the hair.Rains make the matter worse and it is one of those seasons when your hair is affected the most.

Rains play havoc with your hair and almost every day seems to be the bad hair day. Not only rain water leads to hair fall but also snatches away the quality, shine and life of your mane making it lifeless.

Curly hair suffers the most while the hair that is straightened or rebounded loses its charm and is as good as dead by the end of the rains. The stressful lives that we lead these days add to the problem and the matter can't get worse than this. Not only hair fall, but rains lead to very many infections, the dandruff problem worsens, itchy scalp and if not treated properly it can even lead to fungus infections.

Rains and hair fall are almost synonymous with each other but a few tips and extra care can help you make things better and take control of the situation before it goes out of hand.

Hair expert Dilnawaz Shaikh from Hair Express says, "The best thing you can do to protect your hair in rains is to keep it clean by frequent shampooing and keeping it hair dry as far as possible. If your hair is exposed to rains every day then make sure you wash your hair with a mild and diluted shampoo on regular basis. It’s a myth that too much of hair wash leads to hair fall.In rains the most important thing is to keep your hair clean that will help you protect from so many hair problems."

Soon after shampoo use a leave-in conditioner that will do wonders to your mane and do not brush wet hair. If possible towel dry your hair and if using dryer is a must then make sure its eight inches away.

Adds Pinki Sabarwal from Schwarzkopf, "Do not get any chemical treatment done during rains as it can permanently damage your hair. If your hair is already treated then do not go for oil massage often and instead try spa as the salons. The deep conditioning treatment will help you hair with nourishment and in turn keep them healthy and in good condition. I suggest using conditioners and a balanced diet to keep your hair strong and prevent them from falling."

A high protein diet full of nuts and grains, having enough water and sleep will ensure good hair heath in any season. Also pamper yourself with a hair mask in a week or two that is rich in proteins. Protein pack for hair is available in the market and you can also make one at home with so many ingredients that you will get in your own kitchen.
