Designer Sabyasachi Mukherji was a surprise packet on Friday at the Lakme Fashion Week festival. He showcased his bohemian collection which was so not Sabya and this surprised the audiences sitting at the venue.
The designer who is known for his contemporary collection, raised a lot of eyebrows from the audience when he showcased some transparent collection. His collection was inspired from the rock stars of 70’s and comprised of long skirts, floor-touching dresses, elongated t-shirts and loose pants.
The models that walked the ramp for him sported a gypsy look, and wore chunky jewelleries, red and rose tinted sunglasses; platform sandals and bandanas. When asked, Sabysachi said that he always wanted to do something like this. He said, “I always wanted to do something like this and I am really very happy that finally I have been able to do what I wanted. I would like to explain this as ‘mid-life crisis’ situation for me”.
The designer is the one who dresses up Rani and Vidya as these two actresses were known for their trashy dressing sense. But the man has gave them a total make over and these two actresses are now some of the most stylish actresses across the media.
Sabya is very close to both of these actresses and Vidya Balan showed up for his show on Friday too. But Sabya prefers Rani over Vidya because she was the one who gave him her movie Black when he was no one in this film industry. The film also won him a national award for the dresses that he created for the film.
Talking about his collection Sabya said, “My collection was something that I should have showcased 4 years ago. Underwear showing collections is not Sabya style, but I did it because I don’t play to the gallery anymore. I am not bothered about what others have to say because I have done what I wanted to...... Bohemian – Retro mix n match collection”.
The designer took a lot of inspiration from the French/ Italian films and his hard work paid off too.
